Costumes are completely optional. It would be bad if we were limited to three armors per class, but there are enough good-looking clothes our toons can wear. Buying a costume gives you no advantage and doesn't really broaden your pool of looks that much. Don't like them, don't like the price - don't buy them.
I, for one, am not going to spend money on costumes, but as long as ANet doesn't add something game-breaking to their shop, i don't mind.

Lions Arch, used a character that already finished Battle for Lions Arch and watched the follow up Dialoge in the HoM, guess its just a bug that sliped through.

Well, good news is you can enjoy the bonus content for FREE w/o spending any money!

Seriously, how can anyone complain about the costumes? If you don't want them, don't buy them, just enjoy the free gaming updates.

3 costume sets?...

Sigh.

I really feel like I'm being siphoned for cash, now.

I've bought them all and even bought the storage panes when they came out (all of them). I voiced why I will not be buying these...aren't opinions great?

I'm QQing about it because it really feels sleezy and cheap at this magnitude. Releasing this many costumes this often makes it feel like I'm playing some B-level Korean MMO with a cash shop, not Guild Wars.

I'm guessing that the costume megapack for all 3 will be around $15-20 or so, no? I could get one month's worth of a game from an awesome company like Blizzard. If ANet keeps releasing these costumes like this, it's really going to make me think less of them.

Again, no one is making you buy them!

It's pretty obvious from the article that Anet is going to be releasing a LOT more costumes:

Halloween
Wedding
Wintersday

You don't have to buy all of them, or even buy them right away.

In the meantime, you can enjoy free new content!

I mean, it really is the best of both worlds: Regular updates to a sub-free game, + new costumes for those who want them. Win-win.

EDIT: and Blizzard is doing this AND charging you $15 bucks a month! Oh, how awesomely generous they are...

That's 3 pets and a steed for only $55! Get yours today, because you still need to save money to buy Cataclysm!

That's pretty much how I feel... the difference with a proper addon is I get to choose what I like or don't like..eg: I like the norn ranger armour so I got it, but those dragon gloves are ugly as hell! so I didnt get them...with this, its just one overcharged item, take it or leave it. it doesnt feel right!

I have completed WiK with 8 of 10 chars.

But I know many who have not even started.
I wonder if they will miss all HOTN content or if they are at least allowed to attend the wedding ceremony.

I am pretty sure they are eligible to buy wedding dresses, after all. SCNR.

My point being that Blizzard is top notch in everything they do. I've not once had a bad customer experience with those people and they release new content on a reasonable time scale.

I've had bad experiences with ANet, my only good point towards them is that they made GuildWars. Can't say much more than that.

Well you SHOULD get top notch customer relations from Blizzard... you're spending hundreds of dollars a year with all the expansions, monthly sub, and store.

Guess how much I spent on GW last year? $20. And it was all optional. Best bang for your buck, no question.

My point exactly. I'm putting money into GuildWars by buying their content and you'd think that I'd get something in return, since all they're giving me is copied pixels. Even before GuildWars was scratching for money, years ago, they failed at customer service.

I still don't think you get what I'm saying when I say that by them just having one huge optional cash shop, it makes the game feel incredibly cheap.

For confirmation of where the Arrowhead and to show it's not a rumor.

EDIT: It's south of the beach in Divinity Coast.

So, you want an non-optional cash shop?

Look, they need to make money. Period. Better this way then have to BUY bonus quests...
